Conversations with Father is a field of thought where I studied the roles and meanings ascribed to gender stereotypes and their effects on our perception. While exploring this field, I came across this temple-like structure. Under the skeletal dome that forms the roof of the building, there is a hidden ceiling of red glass, that transmits light. The main hall offers a shallow and limited space that points to what is missing despite the building’s imposing front entrance. The giant twin doors in the back work as a reminder of the horrors by exposing what little shelter this building can offer for its resident. The battery-powered, insufficient LED lights hidden in the lower level, signals the discontinuity of light and work as a reminder of the forthcoming darkness.
